Joseph Edward Root namely Joe Root is an English cricketer born on December 30, 1990 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Joe Root is eldest son of Helen Root and Matt Root. He has a younger brother Billy root who is also a professional cricketer. He fell in love with Carrie Cotterell who worked as manager at Arc Bar Headingley. They made their affair public in 2014 and got engaged in 2016. The couple tight the knot at Sheffield in 2018.  Carrie give birth to Alfred William in 2017. They again become parents in 2020 giving birth to Isabella Root.

Joe Roots Cricketing Career

Joe Root is one of the finest batsmen England has ever produced. He made his Test debut in December 2012 against India. After brilliant performance against India and other teams Root become a cornerstone of England’s batting line-up. Root is known for his classical technique and calm demeanor.

Root was appointed as England’s Test captain in 2017, leading team for record 64 matches. He has won 27 matches as a captain with win ratio of 42.2%.  During his captaincy he become one of the few modern batsmen to surpass 11,000 Test runs. He finally step down from captaincy in 2022.

Root was a vital part of England’s 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup winning team. He batted so well in the tournament providing consistent run throughout the tournament.

As of 2025 Root is one of the central figure in England’s Test side. He is admired worldwide for his sportsmanship, technique and leadership.
